Bay Area Currents was established to provide an opportunity for local artists working with photography to exhibit in the Bay Area and to discover and connect with other artists in the community. There was no single theme for this call, instead we were looking to see what you have been up to of late.  What we received showed a broad range of interpretations of photography including documentary, expressive, and experimental works manifested through a wide variety of styles and approaches.

Reilluminate #9 was part of an analog/film based exhibition organized by Fotofilmic. The piece was a guest artist pick and is available for purchase here. 

 FotoFilmic’s underlying vision aims to spur new contemporary understandings of film-based photography and its rich lineage of physical craft and recording methods in the context of global digital culture, and doing so to also invite further critical questioning of the increasingly instantaneous image consumption, discard and image making purposes behind the technology and its transformative social power.
